Research Experience

Dr. Joshi has been involved in numerous research projects at every stage of his medical training, with a strong focus on surgical and medical retina.

About Nisarg P. Joshi, MD

Doctor Joshi holds a Bachelors of Science degree in Biology from the Wilkes University, and earned his medical degree from the Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, PA. He completed an Internal Medicine internship at the Lankenau Medical Center, Wynnewood, PA, and an ophthalmology residency at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, PA. Following residency training, Dr. Joshi completed his vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida.

Dr. Joshi was a chief ophthalmology resident at Geisinger Medical Center, where he also earned the Best Presentation Award in May 2021, at the Geisinger Scholarship Day.

Dr. Nisarg Joshi has contributed to the ophthalmology literature and published and presented on several of his research interests- central serous retinopathy, medication toxicity, and other retinal diseases. He is published in the Journal of Vitreroretinal Disease.
Dr. Joshi enjoys contributing to educational material and has authored multiple book chapters. He has been involved in treating patients and conducting clinical trials for conditions including dry age-related macular degeneration and uveitis.

Doctor Joshi joined Florida Retina Institute September, 2023.

Personal

Dr. Joshi enjoys spending time with his family and dog, traveling to different countries and outdoor activities such as going to the beach, hiking and kayaking. Dr. Nisarg Joshi is fluent in Gujarati, an Indo-Aryan language native to the Indian state of Gujarat and spoken predominantly by the Gujarati people of Western India.
